Here at Laughing Dog Kennel, we love to have fun, but we take the care of your pets very, very seriously. In order to keep our furry visitors healthy and happy, we ask their guardians - you! - to help by following some important guidelines.
Monday- Saturday we are open from 7:30 to 10am and from 3:00-4:30 pm.
Sundays we are closed but pre-scheduled pickup is between 4-4:30pm.
Please note that although our “open to the public” hours are limited, we are still here all day caring for your furry family members!
Please note that we are not open on major holidays such as the 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day. We will be open for limited hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Advance boarding reservations are highly recommended for any holiday periods.
We recommend reservations for your pet for any of our services. Walk-ins for boarding and daycare will only be accepted if there is space available and if owner arrives prepared with proof of current vaccinations, Admission form and food if boarding, as required by our standard boarding and daycare policies.
**New dogs must schedule a Meet & Greet appointment before reservations can be made! This is to assess your dog’s personality & suitability for our facility. We do not take aggressive dogs, or dogs that are un-socialized/terrified, as this can be a safety issue for your dog as well as our Staff. Please call 505-863-DOGS to set up a Meet & Greet if this is your dog’s first time.
For the health of all of our guests, all dogs and cats must be current on their vaccinations for boarding or daycare.
Adult dogs must have proof of vaccination for DHP-P, Bordetella, and rabies. Puppies must have proof of a minimum of two (2) sets of puppy boosters. If over six months of age they must also have current Rabies vaccination. Females over 6 months must be spayed.
Adult cats must be current on FDRT and Rabies vaccinations. Kittens must have received a minimum of two FDRT kitten boosters and if over 6 months must have received Rabies vaccination. We do not board un-neutered male cats. Cats must be reasonably friendly!
You can ask your vet to fax over the vaccination status (fax:505- 722-2431). Or you can email or bring in proof of your pet's current vaccination status before or at the time of your services. info@laughingdogkennel.com
Unfortunately, certain viral infections are fairly common in the Gallup area, including both distemper and parvo virus among dogs - especially puppies, and feline distemper among cats. Because these infections can spread quickly, we cannot accept any dog or cat that appears ill (listless, vomiting and/or diarrhea, or has discharge from its eyes and/or nose).
*Please note the following policies/exceptions for boarding: We cannot board dogs with sutures or cones. Females in heat will not be accepted for boarding or daycare. Females over the age of 6 months must be spayed. For the safety of our Guests & our Staff, aggressive dogs will not be accepted for boarding, daycare or grooming.
We want tot take the best care of your precious puppy and support your house-training efforts while your puppy boards. Puppies must be 16 weeks or older for daycare or boarding. Puppies are let out to potty as often as every hour to give them every opportunity for success and to help with your potty training efforts at home. Because of this extra care and attention, puppies boarding under the age of 6 months are charged an additional $4 on top of the regular rate.
Owners who would like their smaller dog(s) boarded in an indoor/outdoor run can choose that option. They will be charged the large dog rate.
The multi-dog discount for boarding applies to two (2) dogs owned by the same family who are accustomed to living together, and are able to safely share the same kennel or cage for the duration of their stay. If your dogs have to be separated at feeding time due to fights over food, they would need 2 separate kennels.
Any abrupt change to your pet's diet will cause in an upset stomach resulting in vomiting and diarrhea--which is no fun for your dog! It can even develop into pancreatitis, which can become serious and require hospitalization. Since we want your pet's stay with us to be pleasant, we require that you bring your pet's own regular food. Please bring enough to last the duration of your pet's stay in a seal-able container (Ziplock, tupperware or plastic bin with lid) labeled with your dog's name and feeding instructions. We will not accept food brought in store-bought bags, as they tear & spill. We are happy to feed dry, canned or raw food per your written instructions. We do not charge for administering oral prescription medications as long as you furnish Pill Pockets or some other cheese, meat or suitable delivery method.
To avoid potential hazards, your pet's collar and leash will be removed and placed in your dog’s bin while boarding.
For our canine guests, we provide fleece blankets in our boarding cages and Coolaroo cots in the dog runs for your dogs' comfort. If your dog has a particular bed that he/she loves, you can bring that along, but we are not responsible for damage.
For our feline friends, we provide fleece blankets, kitty tents for privacy and cushions for your cat's comfort. If your cat has a bed that you would like to bring from home we can keep that with him/her instead.
Plans can change, we understand that! We do request that you kindly provide at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel a reservation.
